A small gift...

Hi everyone!
Time for a new challenge at the Dream Factory
Our movie for this month is:

Sweet Little Things
The French movie with the original title “Les petites victoires”
is about the small victories in life.

We say:
"Anything small-sized will do"

Small animals, small objects, small card sizes, small homemade gifts, etc.

We were recently invited to dinner at a friend's house.
As a small gift and thank you, I made this paper lamp.

It consists of many narrow strips that are glued slightly overlapping onto an open, round base.
At the top, the strips are simply laid on top of each other one by one and then twisted. It holds together on its own, but you can add a little hot glue to the opening to be on the safe side.

Place the lamp over an LED tea light and the magic happens...

For this lamp, I punched stars out of some of the strips and decorated the twisted area with die-cut leaves and a cord.
I don't want to praise myself, but the hostess was absolutely delighted! Hope you like it too :)

If you are interested, you can find detailed instructions for a larger paper lantern here.
....mine only has a diameter of about 6 cm.

Celebrate Spring & Happy Easter

Hi everyone!

Today marks the start of challenge #2 on our brand new challenge blog

The theme is: EASTER

As the name suggests, this challenge blog is all about little things—more specifically, little cards.
Any card type that is smaller than a standard card (10,5 x 15 cm / 4.1" x 5.9" inch) is okay,
such as ATCs,  ATC coins, tags, Memorydex cards,
Mini Moo cards, bookmarks, inchies, etc.
The variety of card shapes gives you plenty of room to create something that suits your personal taste.

After searching through my stash, I found a sheet of green paper. I cut out two ATC's, stenciled squares onto them using Mowed Lawn (Distress Oxide), and added text and a grid patterns with stamps.

I colored the images with alcohol ink markers and cut them out with scissors.
Since I also wanted to include inchies in our "Little Things" challenge, I used them as a background for the images.

I can’t wait to see the creativity you’ll bring to this month’s challenge!

Unfurl Your Wings

Hi everyone!

Time for a new challenge at 613 Avenue Create

The theme is: Things with Wings
(create something featuring a bird, butterfly or bug))
Alternately "Anything Goes"

This is a 10-minute card! The background was in my stash,
so I simply stamped the butterfly onto a botched color experiment, cut it out, and glued it on.
The butterfly looks a little blurry, which is due to the reflection of the Wink of Stella I used to brush it.

Hope to see you play along with 613 Avenue Create

Have Fun!

Let's Be Silly

Hi everyone!
We're heading into the second half of our current Dream Factory challenge, and I would like to briefly remind you about it.

Sing

This month's theme is
“Anything Goes with Animals.”
...any kind of animal!

These days, I enjoy making ATCs. These small cards are really fun to create.

For this one, I used the silly cats and dogs from Your Next Stamp. I colored them with alcohol ink markers and cut them out with scissors. Glued them onto a fun background and added an embossed sentiment. The crown on the dog's head is made of texture paste. I colored it with alcohol ink markers, cut it out, and embellished it with a few rhinestones.

Joyeux Anniversaire!

Hi everyone!
February marks the first birthday on my calendar, and I need to start making some cards.
This one is for my son's girlfriend.

I stenciled the background with roses and leaves, using the colors “Picked Raspberry” and “Mowed Lawn.” Die-cut two branches, one from gold cardstock and one from green design paper, and glued them together. Die-cut the words from black cardstock, glued them onto white cardstock, and cut them out along the outline with scissors.

I haven't used an embossing folder in a while, so I decided to get out my brand new one!
I embossed a small corner of white cardstock and placed it directly under the die-cut branches to create a smooth transition to the stenciled area. This also helped to highlight the sentiment nicely.
Finally, I stuck a few enamel dots next to the birthday sentiment, cut the panel to size, and pasted it onto a blank card.

Thanks for stopping by!
